At least 32 of the 54 eggs in the incubator are fertile.

That means, if I’m lucky, in about a week and a half to two weeks time I should have at least 15 cute fluffy chicks.

#chatting to the void #I'm so excited #I do this pretty much every year #but that doesn't lessen the excitement #I have admittedly candled them a little early #but I /needed/ to know #and in 32 of them I can see the veins and little dark spot of the developing embryo #32 potential babies for me #but I know not to expect 32 #anything could happen between now and when they're due to hatch #they might just stop developing #the air sac might get get them #they might just not be strong enough to survive or get themselves out of the egg #and if we have a thunderstorm then we're well and truly fucked #because that /will/ kill some of them #I don't know how or why #I just know it has a negative effect on them #but no more negative thoughts #only positive #and the best part is we've got some new hens #and all new cocks #so I don't know what colours or patterns I'm going to get out of this batch #it's going to be a complete mix match of blues and whites and blacks and browns and reds #it's going to be amazing
