something that i realized looking back on uta's story is how her story is kinda real in a way. Simplifying all of the supernatural elements of one piece:
She grew up in a family where she couldnt fulfill her dream but was happy, she went to a place full on that dream with them, that place had something dangerous that they hid away instead of getting rid of that made her do horrible things as a little kid, her father/family took the blame and left her thinking she was abandoned, she found a way to connect to people and fulfill her fame. She got super famous very young, growing into that fame, and eventually came up with a way to make people happy at her expense even at the price of her own health, then in her attempt to fulfill their dream she turned to drugs to continue being the perfect idol. In the end the drugs made her crazy and she died of the side effects after causing harm again.
In the modern world its like a lonely girl with an internet addiction. She was isolated, and even with the option to leave her bubble (she could leave the island) would stay to be an idol to these people instead of her own person. This analysis is all over the place but damn. Just got me thinking. The fact that she was idolised and put her life and mental state on hold, even put her relationship with her family on hold to keep it up (shed already known by then about the truth). Its just so much. Shes such a tragic character bro. I cant. As if Shanks wasnt tragic enough..! They couldve both been happy! Fuck you! Elegia! Fuck you!!! And that guy who STILL kept the paper!? I want him to feel all suffering. ALL OF IT. Shanks couldve had a daughter and someone to ground him from all the shit he's got going on, and uta couldve been a happy singing girl. I hate Gordon so much. People like him but you really look into it and its literally all his fault, he wasnt just being pitiful and woe is me when he said it was his fault because it really all IS his fault. You didnt even do good with the girl in your care's addiction. He's horrible. Just let himself do nothing but feel bad for himself up until it was way too late. Then he could play the cool guy. Uta was on fucking drugs, sleep deprivation, possessed, mentally ill, traumatized, had the weight of a bunch of people on her. Its INSANE what she was on. And Gordon just did fuck all. He's the real villian. No happy ending for shanks, sacrificial lamb of one piece, and ruined the life of a little girl who couldve been so much. Still cant listen to the worlds continuation without crying.
