saw an ABSURDLY good post where someone was challenging societally constructed concepts of intelligence, and also how people Get™️ when they feel they have any sort of experience and therefore intellectual authority on any given subject manner, and oh my god it reminded me of some stuff that's i'd been being subjected to until i'd had enough and stopped engaging recently i'm a Little heated about it.
but, maybe more importantly for me right now, it reminded me i can really get like this too. it's not always (or even usually!) a conscious thing for most people, but i think it's important i keep gently challenging it in myself. it's not that i can't ever be Right, especially in more objective matters like, say, computer science, but i also can't just Assume I Am Correct, especially in very complicated, nuanced, or variable topics like, well, pretty much anything social. it's really important not to mentally Lock Down about those latter, circumstantial, often very subjective subjects.
god knows, i do NOT want to be doing to people what that person had been doing to me until recently. 😫
i saw a post with some really good info for trans (particularly nonbinary) surgeries that i wanted to share, but without its casual use of intersexist terminology (which is unfortunately really common IN these circles, so if you dig deeper you WILL come across it and you may even find using this terminology in searches helps you find more information—just please be mindful and considerate of the intersex community and how these terms contribute to the stigmatization and harm they face!), so i'm just compiling it all here instead :)
terms to look up if you want a penis and a vagina at the same time: phallus-preserving vaginoplasty or penile-preserving vaginoplasty (PPV), phalloplasty without vaginectomy or metoidioplasty without vaginectomy—phalloplasty means constructing a penis, vaginoplasty means constructing a vagina, metoidioplasty is an alternative to phalloplasty, and vaginectomy means closing/removing a vagina! here are some post-op pictures shared by some reddit users: on r/phallo, a phalloplasty without vaginectomy and adding urethral lengthening (moving the opening of the urethra to the head of the penis). on r/transgender_surgeries, a phallus-preserving vaginoplasty. and on r/metoidioplasty, a metoidioplasty without vaginectomy. there are countless other variations of these surgeries, including no urethral lengthening phalloplasty and metoidioplasty (which makes it easier to ensure no vaginectomy is needed), as well as multiple ways to do the PPV, including using the scrotal tissue for the vaginal canal or the 'pull through' method which involves taking some of the internal tissue. the major difference between a phalloplasty and a metoidioplasty, also, is what tissues the surgeon needs to use to construct the penis: a phalloplasty most commonly takes tissue from the thigh and creates an average length penis, while a metoidioplasty uses tissue from an HRT treated clitoris and creates a shorter than average penis.
terms to look up if you want no genitals: nullification surgery! this one was new to me, but this woman (includes pictures) discusses her results and, wow, it's kind of what i've always whated my own parts to look like. "doll parts" is literally the way i describe my ideal setup to people! 😳
not included in the other post, but i came across it again while researching result pics for this post: transbucket! a resource where people share their post-op photos of various surgeries, top and bottom! these nonbinary surgeries are few and far between here, but this is still a great resource for all kinds of trans people seeking surgery, and it includes the names of the surgeons who did the surgery. :) PLEASE note that some of the photos shared are VERY freshly after surgery and can be quite graphic to look at, as things are still visibly healing. i think you also need to make an account to use it? i have one, so i assume i had to make one.
finally, regarding PPV, talk to your surgeon about the bulbospongiosus muscle. apparently this muscle when removed can lead to UTI issues and many surgeons will remove it during vaginoplasties. i'm no surgeon, so i can't guarantee what's best for you and your body, but i do recommend you talk to your surgeon about it and do some research about it just to be safe!
these surgeries are getting more common every day. :) and so are nonbinary hormone replacement therapies, such as low-dose T with DHT blockers to get some but not all of the effects of testosterone as much or sometimes at all! transgender healthcare continues to evolve and expand and it's worth talking about and advocating for. <3
in fifty minutes my bff's plane was supposed to be landing but weather problems means the flight was cancelled and now he has to fly in tomorrow instead >:( Yes I Have Been Moping About It All Day
football is back august 6th and this time i have my bff to watch it with. whether or not this makes me more or less annoying about it online? probably more i am not shy about being your local sports lesbian >:)

this is genuinely i think one of The Problems™ with fragmentation in the lgbtq/queer community is (some not all blah blah blah) queer people specifically are just like. really really really lax on issues like anti-racism and anti-misogyny. there are endless discussions about misogynistic gay men and racist lesbians and so on and i think when queer people have marginalization that DOES genuinely systemically and negatively impact so much of their lives, it becomes way too easy without constant and intentional vigilance to "hide" behind that marginalization when confronted with More Anger and More Retaliation, and they don't stop to think about WHAT the anger IS in this context or where it's COMING from. they just see MORE stuff that hurts and they shut down about it. but when we're talking about racism and misogyny you can't do that! you need to be constantly rooting that shit OUT of your behavior and ideology, always, for your entire life, because it's burrowed into ALL of us from birth by nature of the society we live in and "caring about" women and poc is NOT and will NEVER be enough. you have to listen and learn and exercise the bigotry from yourself every single day. you have to be proactive and intentional. i say this because i have witnessed it a million times with misogyny and i have Done It with racism and frankly i even did it with misogyny until i said "fuck that" to both and got really fucking intentional about it all the time on purpose. and it's never going to be perfect but it's going to be a lot more noticeable to people if you're not just SAYING you care about women/poc but actually exercising misogyny/racism from yourself constantly. i cannot stress how much women/fem-aligned ppl (saying this as a fem-aligned nb person there are obviously masc-aligned nb people and neither nb people you get it) Notice if you just Say you care about women or if you actually like Walk That Walk too. and i KNOW poc notice it x10000 because holy fucking shit. but like this is genuinely The Big Problem™ to me is a sort of. ambivalence in queer/leftist spaces about anti-racism and feminism/anti-misogyny. it's not enough to think that racism and misogyny is bad you gotta Kill the racist and misogynist in yourself Every Day dude.
for the past year or two gmail has periodically been sending me emails letting me know all the alt emails i made for tumblr rp accounts like 10 yrs ago are going to be terminated soon and it is both very funny and very surreal
