Today marks one year that I will have been sober. For the record folks, I never thought I would give up drinking, nor did I faintly desire to. I just didn’t think it was possible, despite seeing how bad it may get down the road, and feeling trapped. I had a very convicting dream with a message from a lil one across the rainbow bridge. I asked ‘what do I have to do to get to that life I want?’. The message was “Get sober”. So I did- a couple different times, until I realized I was falling apart (quietly in my room) just off a couple beers, and it was my dog I was sorely missing even after all those years. Then it hit me for good- this conviction has come full circle and it looks like I got it for a reason. So as odd as it may sound to you, I got sober to honor my dog. That little dog believed in me. I now have a best friend that’s human who was out for a while, during those times, who I’m very grateful for. I’m tryna be a friend that’s sober minded, in case I’m needed. I am by no means perfect, and got a long ways to go. I’m actually a bit of a wreck, which is one more reason not to drink. To the ones who love me, thank you for being patient with me, even if what I’m going through, sometimes, doesn’t seem to add up. Thank you. To everyone else, you can do it, too. #oneyearsober #sobriety #redcon1 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg4joVyrWxs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
