With decades of experience and already a veteran in acting, actor Christopher Lee who played the role of Saruman the White, a wizard who does the bidding of dark lord Sauron. Lee was delighted to be part of the trilogy as he is a big fan of Tolkien's original novels and have read it since it was published in 1954. Christopher Lee was the only cast member to have met Tolkien in real life. They bumped with each other at a bar in Oxford. Crazy right?!

One of the iconic scenes in the trilogy is Gandalf's inseparable relationship with smoking pipe. There was this one memorable scene in the Fellowship of the Ring where he and Bilbo were smoking, and Gandalf made a ship out of the smoke. Due to the dangers of smoking in real life, filmmakers decided to cut it out in fear that children will take up smoking once they see it on screen. But later on, it was decided that Gandalf smoking pipe pose no threat at all, they go ahead with it perfectly portraying the wizard's intrinsic character.
