Press is rolling in 2023, finishing one liners set from January to June 2021 with 12 of 60 runs printed. The bonus fun has been using some beautiful cast embellishers (and festoons!) between type specimens to even out the pages. Many of these gems have gone unused in the shop, and I swear they are happy for inky attention. In discussing the struggle to make work last year, @bearwithjetpack invited me to join her merry band of visual journal makers. I tried, but quickly struggled to match their mastery of art supplies, drawing skills and soulful story sharing. But I did launch a daily practice of one-line type specimens as a useful way to catalog the collection and culminate in a book. 10 months later, setting alphabetically, it’s HOBO time! 😈. While I haven’t attended meetings for awhile, this week’s prompt for the group—harvest—was clearly today’s one-liner. Catching up on one-line specimens, moving through tiny, shiny Card Litho to very old Caslon Oldstyle. It came with the first type cabinet I ever got—and still have—an ornery Tubbs double beast. ..... Kerns on the Caslon Italic need some support. I had a damaged period, shown with pencil point, that works perfectly under the f.
