This TCF fanfic is about OgCale running away and meeting Olienne, an ancient dragon, who ends up adopting him! It's mostly fluff, but I have some... angsty ideas as well :)

I try to add a piece of art for every chapter and have one more pre-written chapter every update! I tried to follow a plan, but this fic got a mind of its own, so I can only type words when I lock in. They do not follow the plan, as more scenes that I haven't even thought about just suddenly appear. It's terrifying, kind of, but I don't mind!

These are art pieces that I made so far for this fic!

Let's say that for a modern AU or an academy AU with a celebration similar to Christmas, OgCale's class plays secret santa (the actual game, this is not about that post about OgCale loving gift giving). Just a little game to cheer up the students before exam season. The idea is that each student will have a box with their name on it in the wall of the opposite side to the board, that way every student can leave their gift inside when others aren't looking.

And, anyways, OgCale had bad luck an instead of getting one of the decent people or indifferent people who would get a generic gift or even nothing at all, his secret santa was an asshole. An asshole that hates him.

I was thinking Venion, because it's a classic and he already disliked OgCale since before the transmigration. So, imagine how much he would hate him if they had to share class. Because OgCale would totally find him disgusting and be an annoyance whenever he shows up. Mutual hate, there.

So— OgCale got Venion as his secret santa, and since Venion is a bitch, he went and decided to do what he thought could be the most hurtful thing he could present as a gift. He framed an article that talked about OgCale's mom's accident, talking about her death and even taking the time to add a cut of the same old paper where an anonymous interviewed person said they couldn't believe she died just like that and that her son must had sucked her life. Just horrible things blaming him based on supersticions and coincidences. And he went an put that in his gift box, waiting to get a reaction from him, the sadistic bitch.

But OgCale is OgCale. He has the mental strength from ten world trees.

When he arrives, he checks his box, not really expecting to find anything inside. But he sees what seems like a picture frame, so he pulls it off. Gives it a single glance before realizing what it is, rolls his eyes and puts it back inside again.

Then he turns around, scanning everyone before fixing his sight on Venion and staring like a haunted doll for ten uncomfortable seconds. He proceeds to walk to his seat and very visible pose like he's thinking carefully on something.

"...maybe vinegar?...or the staircase should work...onion acid..."

No one knows what he's muttering about but they somehow feel the threat anyways.

When Olienne walks in, he finds all his students in silence, switching between looking at Cale Henituse like they didn't know what was going on or if they should run and glancing at Venion as if he was already dead.

After a few seconds he concludes something must had happened with the gifts and heads to the boxes. He's the teacher, whatever is going on, he probably should check nothing bad has happened.

He goes straight to Cale Henituse's box, because he rarely does anything unprovoked and Venion's seatmate looks too guilty for someone unrelated. Which means, most likely Venion Stan did something and his seatmate was aware and didn't stop him or was an accomplice. Then Cale Henituse found out and, well, he isn't sure yet. Probably his calm demeanor freaked everyone out. He's known for his bad temper, after all.

Still, the box is not his, so...

He clears his throat, "Mr. Henituse, may I?"

"Mm? Oh, sure. Go ahead."

Olienne opens takes off the lid. He sees it instantly, but his mind takes a little to process what he's reading. An article, taken from a paper from almost a decade ago—

'Countess Jour Henituse... coming from a trip... carriage accident. ...sustained grave wounds and died... The healer suspects that her fragile state may...'

And the interview in the corner of the frame is even worse. What kind of bastard blames a child for his own mother's death?

"Venion Stan, head to the headmaster's office. Now."

"Excuse me?!"

"Did I make not myself clear? To the office, in this instant. Go before I loose the rests of my already fading patience."

OgCale blinks.

"Huh. I was thinking whether I should change his cologne for onion juice or plaster staircase pictures through all his room, but that also works. Thanks, I suppose? I didn't know teachers could be like that. It's weird."

A few minutes later, unusually thrilled, "...is he going to be suspended?"

"Probably. Expulsed, most likely."

Olienne is a character we all know but only because he was important to one of the protagonists.

Although their relationship is not delved into, the mere fact that Eruhaben was detained and had a time of mourning after discovering his death says it all (ಡ‸ಡ)

For a dragon that has lived 1000 years he should be used to death, but Olienne was different.

I like the idea that the two of them were close friends, not enough for it to be a Queerplatonic relationship but enough for them to leave traces on each other (*^^*)♡

(In fact, that's because I saw an interpretation like that in a fanfic and I loved it! Him being an otaku is an idea I had never seen before and I loved it.)

We don't know much about him in canon, but what we do know is that he was cheeky, he liked sculptures (he probably made them himself) and long baths, it took him fifteen years to be born and his attribute is wood, and it can be assumed that He was good at creating barriers.

I feel like he could have been used in a better way, his character is incredible and needs more depth but he could have complemented the family very well °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

Perhaps over time he and Eruhaben could have improved their relationship, becoming a romantic or queerplatonic couple who would adopt Cale and Rosalyn as his children (o´∀`o)

Why Rosalyn? Because I feel that if Olienne is as shameless as Eruhaben says, seeing that he took Rosa as her apprentice, he could contribute and over time they would develop a fairly healthy father-daughter relationship ♡＼(￣▽￣)／♡

Besides, during the battle of the jungle vs the empire he could have helped Cale make the trees collect the dead mana or even shoot down the airship.
