A month ago I had a birthday. I normally thank everyone personally for their comments on my page and post some thing about myself and honoring my journey. But this year I had already dedicated myself to amplifying black voices during that week and so I stayed silent. What was decent and polite in responding to everyone’s birthday wishes took lesser importance to making sure I was posting and sharing Black voices and helping them reach the top of those algorithms! . . But I read your wishes. And it means so much to me to have you in my sphere of awareness. If you are close enough to me to be wishing me a happy birthday and reading my posts, that means you either decided to stick it out with me after all these years, or you’re someone who is attracted to the new path my life has taken. Regardless, I’m so glad you are here. . . I’ve been really enjoying my 40s. There’s a self security that comes with this age. And it’s delightful. I turned 42 this year. And this year I gave myself the gift of releasing more conditioned fear, trusting the Universe, and celebrating the little signs, synchronicities, and pleasures that exist daily. . . I also added the gifts of more patience and release of my attachment to control and outcomes. But that of course came with a lot of kicking and screaming... like it often does with me. . . Everyday is a practice in mastering my mindset and embracing the tools and universal laws I also ask you to practice. But I take more satisfaction and joy from it now then I can ever remember doing so in the past. It’s kinda awesome when it isn’t the worst. . . In 2019 I'm going to work on being in the photos again. At some point I stopped being in front of the camera and I want to have proof that this older, plus size mama is out there hiking and loving our Adventures!
