But then we figure out that it doesn't line up, and actually in the descriptions (also known as source of objective information), he is only addressed as "old man / old man in yellow", only called Old Monk on the notion of 'well, what else would you tag this character as?', and "Old Monk" is actually Demon taking a form of robe itself!

Not to mention literal cutscene where we see that "old man" just straight up dies when the robe leaves him, trying to reach for it on reflex before he does, and the robe uses random person as a vessel (players in online mode and another assassin like Yurt in preset). And the boss is called Old Monk. 🤔

Tbh "Old Monk is not Old Monk" sounds like something that belongs to a Demon's Souls iceberg. But! There is a simple explanation, and well all know what it is -_-

What does impress me though, is how seamlessly they dealt with it? All things considered, it would make a bunch of sense if "old man" never announced that he has some sort of symbiotic (or, rather, parasitic) relationship with a Demon, but instead declare that he is the Demon, as if everyone was not scared of him enough yet. And Freke is a sage, not a mind-reader! He might as well just roll with the rumour, because whereas descriptions always know the objective truth, the characters in the setting not so much.

Granted, it is not excluded that old man might have as well created the yellow garb and his own creation basically pulled the "I don't want to play with you anymore" on him. Regardless of whether he found yellow robe or created it, this is just such a pitiful story. But he IS "Old Monk" and "Old Monk" IS him as far as others are concerned!
