Another discontinued swedish banknote that’s vastly better than the new ones. Horses! Fur! Fancy fonts! Also writer Selma Lagerlöf, winner of the Nobel Prize for literature (back when it was only given to locals, so not a good way to estimate literary quality, but we were forced to read The Wonderful Adventures of Nils at school and iirc it was pretty good). Also featured is the opening line of her debut novel: At last the minister was in the pulpit. (Noteworthy as he’s been drinking for two weeks straight and not written a word of his sermon. Luckily inspiration strikes him and he knocks the villagers out with fire and brimstone. An inspiration to procrastinators everywhere. I think he dies at the end, though.)
Lagerlöf was the first woman featured on a swedish banknote (incidentally on the lowest denomination). The new money is a bit more equal opportunity, I just wish the artwork had been better too.
