i guess the 1960's had the same 'media literacy crisis' we're going through today.
Have you heard of Hamato Hana? She's a one-story character from the Mirage comics. In her story, she wanted to join the Foot to regain the honor lost when Yoshi killed Oroku Nagi and fled, and fell in with some crooks who offered to help her if she taught them Yoshi's techniques. She claimed to be Yoshi's daughter and asked Splinter for lessons, but soon learned that her "contacts" weren't Foot recruiters but planning on using Yoshi's moves for their own betterment. So she killed the guys and revealed that she wasn't a daughter, but Yoshi's niece. While Splinter still offered to teach her, she declined and went off, never to be seen again...

Very interesting character, it’s too bad they didn’t do more with her. Very fallen-hero-esque. I own many of the mirage comics, but I don’t think I have any of the Tales of the TMNT comics, now I wanna read this one! I love characters like these, so mysterious.

in the comics there’s a new immortal alongside noriko (it’s supposed to be a huge gotcha about how they don’t dream about everyone (or some other reason, that’s my best guess rn)) but he’s solidly sidekick material and shouldn’t get much attention in the third comic arc. so my best guess is that gal would operate as his counterpart for quynh bc i don’t see them replacing nile as the new one in the team so soon (at least they better not)
SPOILERS for the comics!!! also UH WOW. thank you so much this is....... surprising????? i love a gotcha moment if it makes sense, but this feels kind of cheap tbh (the fact that they might not be dreaming about everyone). 💀 poor fic writers everywhere, shall it happen in the movie canon too...... imagine trying to establish any kind of logic&lore into your world only to fave it all fall apart later akdjfj
