     ---   a  few  days,   that’s  all  it’s  been  since  finishing  his  mission  infiltrating  the  group  that  was  suppose  to  kidnap  the  chancellor.   and  yet  everything  still  feels  all  wrong.   anakin’s  been  giving  him  the  cold  shoulder,   which  he  could  understand,   ahsoka  keeps  looking  at  him  funny,   and  other  members  of  the  order  seem  particularly  vexed.

     which  lead  him  to  an  upsetting  realization  that  he  is,   for  all  intents  and  purposes,   a  dead  man  walking  among  the  living.   something  has  changed  from  this---   and  he  doesn’t  know  if  it’s  for  the  better.   it’s  an  odd  sensation,   as  though  he  exists  in  the  in  between  of  life  and  death.

     obi - wan  hesitates,   his  hand  hovering  at  the  door  in  an  interrupted  knock  leading  into  where  satine  is  staying.   he  doesn’t  even  know  if  she’s  here,   she  might’ve  already  left  for  mandalore.   but  he  owes  her---   an  apology,   an  explanation,   everything.   he,   instead,   rings  the  doorbuzz.

military - issued duffel bag is dropped at the door as he knocks,   eager arms outstretched to embrace her the moment she opens the door.      “   surprise,   ”      he greets her,   grin stretching so wide it nearly hurts.    he’s tired to the bone,   jet - lagged,   achy,   but the sight of her never fails to send a thrill through his entire being.      “   did ’ ja miss me?   ”

Obi-wan: Oh she's great, you'll like her. But she's COMPLETELY delusional, borderline unreasonable, and-

Anakin: And the light of your life?

               “ I believe that was me saving your life. Again. How many is that now? Oh, I lost track. ”

     it’s  been  a  long  time  since  they’ve  seen  each  other.   he  almost  doesn’t  recognize  her.   they  were  both  different  people  the  last  they  saw  each  other.    he  was  still  a  padawan.   now  he’s  a  teacher  with  a  student  of  his  own---   that  he’s  still  having  trouble  understanding  just  how  to  teach.   and  she’s  now  the  head  of  mandalore  itself.

     he  hums,   ❝  your  ideals  must  have  been  quite  radical.   i  was  beginning  to  worry  you  might  not  be  able  to  sit  still  after  all  that  time  we  spent  running.  ❞   it’s  meant  as  a  joke,   trying  to  lighten  the  mood  SOMEWHAT.   but  she’s  doing  good---   mandalore  needs  someone  who  can  nurture  it  back  to  help.   he  doesn’t  know  anyone  better  for  the  job.

@ofpacifism​  :      there's a small , neatly wrapped box sitting on the corner of his dresser in his quarters. inside , lay a neatly etched piece of beskar bearing the skull of a mythosaur. a note lay there as well. kenobi turns the charm over and over in his hands,   looking down at it in wonder.    a good luck charm,   he believes,   though he can’t be sure.    it’s only because no one is there to see that he brings the charm up to press it so briefly to his lips and then slips it into his pocket   resolving to find a way to contact her later or make some excuse to go to mandalore,   challenging as that can be.
