they say that sometimes the people you care about the most hurt you the most, and if that’s the case tal is mortally wounded. he despises kit for what he did to lysander. maybe despise isn’t a strong enough word. he knows kit is so set on the legitimacy of lysander’s guilt because if it weren’t the case, then his guilt might consume him but, geez, it boils t’s blood. kit is just full of himself, unyielding and short-sighted. it doesn’t change the fact that talbot still loves him, adores him like a little brother. it pains him to see him so often, in seminars and in the campus philosophy society. so much so that he rarely shows up anymore.
often when talbot feels his gut wrenching in a mixture of anger and sorrow at the thought of how much he misses kit, he is convinced that he killed octavia in cold blood. that he lied and blamed it on his best friend. that is why he was so quick to cast suspicion away from himself. that would explain why he’s so removed from reality, some machine that doesn’t understand pain. but then where would have the person he considered a brother gone?
