Kafka, Chrysalis and memory loss
The storyline of ArachneChrysalis is the reversal of Kafka's classic quote: “you’ll remember nothing but me.” Chrysalis loses her memories, but over time she begins to recover fragments and eventually reconstructs her entire past—with one exception: Kafka.
The one who turns into blank spot in her mind, of all people, is the one with whom she had the most meaningful relationship in previous life. When they meet again, Kafka, who hates it when gaps in the plot disrupt the narrative flow, tries at all costs to make her remember. Kafka doesn’t grasp the reason behind her desire to reconnect: Maybe it’s fascination. Maybe it’s true affection. Maybe it’s just the thrill of chasing something just out of reach. Regardless of why, the fact remains that the woman lost to time has become the object of her desire. The emotion she feels at the beginning is similar to the curiosity one experiences upon encountering a rare, thought-to-be-extinct specimen in its habitat or coming across a priceless artifact.
And, paradoxically, she knows much more about Chysalis than anyone else could. The other party involved in this conundrum feels just as confused. Without knowing why every step she takes alongside Kafka evokes this sense of familiarity, Chrysalis just knows she feels an inexplicable pull, an equally spellbound curiosity. This memory loss is not permanent; little by little, she regains her entire history with Kafka, but for quite some time she truly does not remember it, and this irrevocably affects their relationship, ultimately leading to the blossoming of new feelings for both...

🦋🕸️ alternative universe where Kafka is a centuries-old vampire and Chrysalis is a young witch struggling on her journey due to the trouble of attracting vampires who seek to completely drain her because of her unique blood. In exchange for the sweet price of making Chrysalis her personal blood source, Kafka offers her protection and ancient magic books.
Kafka's long-standing loneliness often causes her to act in a predatory manner, gradually making Chrysalis more dependent on her so she can keep her as a possession. In contrast, Chrysalis’ own loneliness leads her to simply accept being taken advantage of, while also harboring a desire for ownership and exploiting Kafka's blood addiction. This human can be just as ruthless as the old vampire.
