as much as i hate to take focus away from my beautiful strange lesbian i think ashfur would be like a lovely sweet uncle in this au. like probably about as present in the three's lives as ferncloud is in canon. he'd help out in the nursery a lot in general, but was very proactive to help ferncloud out whenever she was nursing

part 2? to this was halfway through drawing this realizing it doesnt technically answer ur question LOL but imo yes. it stings x1000 as worse as with ashfur since ferncloud was also a mother figure to her.
i also would like to imagine in this au the three are a little closer to leafpool. and while holly would 100% still place blame on her, she would subconsciously cling to the idea that she is her true mother in the wake of ferncloud's betrayal of them all

Lil au where Ashfur makes to the gathering and exposes that the Three aren't Squirrelflight's, but it doesn't go his way.
Either cause, 1. One of the three or Squirrelflight expose all he's done. Which is arguably a lot worse that lying about where your kits came from. Or 2. It just ended up embarrassing for him because most the other clans could not care less about Thunderclan drama and Ashfur just had that they weren't Squirrelflight's. Maybe there's a fight between Bramble and Squirrelflight but still ends with Firestar and other clanmates chastising Ashfur for embarrassing the clan over something so personal.
Either he gets exiled for all the attempted murder he's done, or what relationships with his clanmates he does have is shaken by everything that leaves him still unsatisfied.
He ends up either attacking Squirrelflight why near the border if exiled or after she tries to have a civil conversation with him. Ferncloud happens to be near and jumps in to help squirrelflight, the fight ends up with Ferncloud being forced to kill Ashfur.
Ferncloud literally helped nurse the Three. I think her and Squirrelflight would be close especially since she was likely still in the nursery with her first litter when Squirrelflight was a kit. I'd just like to imagine they were close, and Ferncloud supporting Squirrelflight even after it came out the three weren't hers. Because afterall she would've made they same choice,wouldn't she?
Just her understanding Squirrelflight's love for the three(not just as a mother herself but also her own mother taking in and loving Cloud just as much as them) and for her sister, only to have to be forced to take out her own brother...
in the fern-ash swap au, do they both keep their names or are they different and what is ashfur role in the au? Does he have a little crush on squirrel flight but it’s healthy lol. I love loser lesbian fern

I think their names change a little. I'd made Ferncloud -> Fernfall and Ashfur -> Ashcloud (the -fall comes from the fact that I think ashfur should be ashfall. Bc ash falls and also bc that guy fucking SPIRALS).
