Polaris doesnât feel like going to sleep so Remus keeps her entertained. Inspired by that scene of Morgan and Tony Stark.
The curtains closest to the chair was slightly open, letting Remus see the night sky whenever he looked to his side. Remus sat, book open, him mouthing the words he saw on the page.
âDo you know what time it is mister?â, a small voice said behind him. Remusâ eyebrows knitted together as he turned around to face the source of the voice.
The source was his six year old daughter. Her arms were crossed over her big pink shirt that had a small white cartoon cat. Her pajama pants were also pink, but had tiny cats that looked different littered all over it.Â
âDo I know- do you know what time it is?â Remus responded. He put a bookmark to hold his page, then set the book on the table in front of him.
âI had to pee. What are you doing?â, she asked, walking over to him. She looked at the book on the table, pouting âthat seems like a lot of pagesâ.
âIt is, and Iâm gonna read all of it to you if you donât go to bedâ.
âBut Iâm not tired!â Polaris whined. She frowned, grabbing Remusâ arm and looking up at him. âLetâs play insteadâ
Remus shook his head, âitâs too late for playing right now sweetheart. Tomorrow we canâ. Remus knew the chance of him winning this argument was slim to none. Itâs not like Polaris had a winning argument, Remus was just really soft for her. Could Remus be stern? Of course. But that was only when he absolutely needed to. Any other time, he had a spine made of jelly.Â
Polaris continued to pout at him, even whining a little. Remus just sighed at her.
Remus stood up, picking Polaris up and holding her with one hand. Her arms wrapped around his neck as her chin rested on his shoulder.Â
âCan I have chocolate please? Iâll go to sleep afterâ.
Any other time heâd probably say no, but once again⌠spine made of jelly.
âAlright alrightâ, Remus said with a sigh, walking over to the kitchen and grabbing a bar of chocolate out of his not-so-secret-cabinet of chocolate.Â
âWeâll share this one, then Iâm sending you to bed, okay?â. Polaris nodded in response as Remus sat her down on a chair.
It didnât take the two that long to finish their chocolate -which Polaris ate most of-. Maybe only five minutes before Remus threw the wrapper away, picked Polaris back up, then started walking towards Polarisâ room while she kept talking his ear off.
 âLetâs eat more chocolateâ
 âLetâs go listen to musicâ
 âYouâre being really meanâ
 âBut I donât need sleepâ
Remus just ignored her, opening the door and setting her down on her bed. Remus pulled the covers up to her shoulder before sitting next to her. He wiped any hair out of her face and placed a kiss on her forehead.Â
 âAlright, bedtimeâ.
Polaris sighed, âbut I donât wannaâ
Remus had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. He loved Polaris, truly. She was his everything. But Remus could tell how tired she was. She just didnât wanna actually go to sleep.Â
âGo to sleep, you know monsters come out at nightâ
 âDaddy, monsters donât existâ
âReally?â, Remus asked with a smile, ânot even the big bad wolf?â. Polaris giggled as Remus tickled her sides as he finished his sentence. Remus couldnât help but laugh with her, even when the tickling stopped.
âHow âbout I read you a story? That sound ok?â
âIs it that story you were reading earlier?â, she asked. Her lips puckered as if she had something sour in her mouth.
Remus chuckled, getting up and walking towards her bookshelf, âno. Not that story. Youâre safeâ
âOK!â, she exclaimed. Polaris always loved his stories, even if sheâd most likely be asleep by the time he got to the third page.
Remus selected a book, then sat on the other side of the bed with the most space. Polaris scooted over towards him and put her head in his lap.
 âOk, letâs startâŚâ
