Night Time Antics
Polaris doesnāt feel like going to sleep so Remus keeps her entertained. Inspired by that scene of Morgan and Tony Stark.
The curtains closest to the chair was slightly open, letting Remus see the night sky whenever he looked to his side. Remus sat, book open, him mouthing the words he saw on the page.
Ā āDo you know what time it is mister?ā, a small voice said behind him. Remusā eyebrows knitted together as he turned around to face the source of the voice.
The source was his six year old daughter. Her arms were crossed over her big pink shirt that had a small white cartoon cat. Her pajama pants were also pink, but had tiny cats that looked different littered all over it.Ā
Ā āDo I know- do you know what time it is?ā Remus responded. He put a bookmark to hold his page, then set the book on the table in front of him.
Ā āI had to pee. What are you doing?ā, she asked, walking over to him. She looked at the book on the table, pouting āthat seems like a lot of pagesā.
Ā āIt is, and Iām gonna read all of it to you if you donāt go to bedā.
Ā āBut Iām not tired!ā Polaris whined. She frowned, grabbing Remusā arm and looking up at him. āLetās play insteadā
Ā Remus shook his head, āitās too late for playing right now sweetheart. Tomorrow we canā. Remus knew the chance of him winning this argument was slim to none. Itās not like Polaris had a winning argument, Remus was just really soft for her. Could Remus be stern? Of course. But that was only when he absolutely needed to. Any other time, he had a spine made of jelly.Ā
Ā Polaris continued to pout at him, even whining a little. Remus just sighed at her.
Remus stood up, picking Polaris up and holding her with one hand. Her arms wrapped around his neck as her chin rested on his shoulder.Ā
Ā āCan I have chocolate please? Iāll go to sleep afterā.
Ā Any other time heād probably say no, but once again⦠spine made of jelly.
Ā āAlright alrightā, Remus said with a sigh, walking over to the kitchen and grabbing a bar of chocolate out of his not-so-secret-cabinet of chocolate.Ā
Ā āWeāll share this one, then Iām sending you to bed, okay?ā. Polaris nodded in response as Remus sat her down on a chair.
__
It didnāt take the two that long to finish their chocolate -which Polaris ate most of-. Maybe only five minutes before Remus threw the wrapper away, picked Polaris back up, then started walking towards Polarisā room while she kept talking his ear off.
Ā āLetās eat more chocolateā
Ā āLetās go listen to musicā
Ā āYouāre being really meanā
Ā āBut I donāt need sleepā
Ā Remus just ignored her, opening the door and setting her down on her bed. Remus pulled the covers up to her shoulder before sitting next to her. He wiped any hair out of her face and placed a kiss on her forehead.Ā
Ā āAlright, bedtimeā.
Ā Polaris sighed, ābut I donāt wannaā
Ā Remus had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. He loved Polaris, truly. She was his everything. But Remus could tell how tired she was. She just didnāt wanna actually go to sleep.Ā
Ā āGo to sleep, you know monsters come out at nightā
Ā āDaddy, monsters donāt existā
Ā āReally?ā, Remus asked with a smile, ānot even the big bad wolf?ā. Polaris giggled as Remus tickled her sides as he finished his sentence. Remus couldnāt help but laugh with her, even when the tickling stopped.
Ā āHow ābout I read you a story? That sound ok?ā
Ā āIs it that story you were reading earlier?ā, she asked. Her lips puckered as if she had something sour in her mouth.
Ā Remus chuckled, getting up and walking towards her bookshelf, āno. Not that story. Youāre safeā
Ā āOK!ā, she exclaimed. Polaris always loved his stories, even if sheād most likely be asleep by the time he got to the third page.
Ā Remus selected a book, then sat on the other side of the bed with the most space. Polaris scooted over towards him and put her head in his lap.
Ā āOk, letās startā¦ā
