(Callie/Sebastian; Speaker)
(borrowing Sebastian from @speakergame bc I can :P)
The breeze picked up again, sharp, biting, and Callie scowled as she shoved her hands even deeper into her pockets. She hated the cold on the best of days, and wind was just adding insult to injury. Her shoulders hunched against another gust--
--and then, abruptly, it was gone. Shielded from her by something, someone, tall and sturdy and offering her a hot drink cup emblazoned with a local coffee shopâs logo.
âSorry about the wait,â Sebastian said, letting his hand drop after she took the cup. âThere was quite a line.â
âCanât imagine why,â Callie snarked, curling both hands around the new source of warmth as she shuffled closer to continue using him as a windbreak.
Sebastian chuckled and nodded toward the nearby building. âTheyâre not done yet?â
Callie shook her head and kicked back lightly against the bottom step. âYou know Delia; she wants to be thorough.â
He shot her an indulgent look as she shivered again. âYou could wait inside.â
âI tried. Too musty,â she said sourly. âWeek long headaches are one of a few things that suck more than the cold.â Speaking of... She took a long drink of the coffee heâd handed her, eschewing her typical cautious first sip. Sebastian knew what she liked, and heâd never once gotten it wrong. Warm and sweet, the rich mocha continued the trend. âMmm.... Bas, I could kiss you.â
Sebastian smirked as he sidestepped a gaggle of college students rushing by and took a sip of his own drink, âNo oneâs stopping you...â
His playful undertone was just smug enough for her to want to call his âbluffâ. Callie smirked back, mounted the bottom two steps so they were eye to eye(for once), and hooked her free hand around the back of his neck to pull him in for a kiss. One that tasted of coffee and chocolate on both parts and didnât end til they started to lose their balance.
âThereâs another good way to keep warm...â she teased, and the rush of his answering chuckle against her cheek was all the incentive she needed to do it again.
This one broke on a wolf whistle from the top of the stairs, followed by, âIn the middle of the sidewalk, Cal? Scandalous.â
Callie rolled her eyes at her sisterâs teasing. âHad to do somethinâ so I didnât die of boredom waitinâ for you. Find what weâre after?â
âYep.â Delia linked her arm through Azaleaâs as the two of them started down the steps. âTime to get moving.â
âSure thing, one sec-â She was cut off as Sebastian leaned in to steal one last quick kiss. âRead my mind,â she winked, and welcomed the way his arm stayed around her shoulders as they followed Delia back to the hotel.
