Hi! I really like the Children of Miare and I do have a few headcanons about them...
- I like to think their reincarnation power is actually a curse that was cast upon Hieda no Are when they died... maybe they did something really bad and were punished for it by reincarnating every 100-120 years. Like “repent for it in your next lives” if that makes sense. But Are’s sin was kept a secret so that’s why the reincarnations are always called “miracles”.
- We all know the Children of Miare only keep the memories of their past selves that are related to the Chronicles, but I love the idea that their more personal memories can come back through dreams. Feelings and vague memories of events and people the past selves knew, though it’s really hard for the current reincarnation alive to piece everything together. Probably gives them headaches.
- Each of them is linked to a different flower - Akyuu is camellias, for exemple.
- They’re probably linked to the Hakurei lineage in one way or another. Kinda obscure and I haven’t decided how exactly yet, though.
- This one I don’t use all the time and it’s more like “this could be a good short comic!” but... What if “Kosuzu” is also a reincarnation? I love the reincarnation + fated-to-meet tropes and I’ve been playing with that idea for a while; the idea that someone close to Are and their reincarnations has always been there, in different forms... A friend, a lover, or even a beloved pet for one lonely Child of Miare - someone who always appears at some point in a Miare’s life and becomes very important to them. I would like to draw that kind of story one day.
