Slow Burn Book Store - A very new online book store, launched at MABF, with an Asian focus. This book was made to record four major movements in Hong Kong history. Anti-Hong Kong Express Rail Link Movement (2010) Occupy Central (2011) Umbrella Revolution (2014) Anti-extradition Law Movement (2019) My family is from Hong Kong, I’ve been there two times. When I picked up this book and spoke to Nikki from Slow Burn, I realised I am quite disconnected from that part of my culture, despite wishing I was more immersed in it. Even though this book is completely in Chinese, I thought it might be useful of me to research these movements.

We have now surpassed #theUmbrellaMovement (a.k.a #OccupyCentral) of 2014, and we are still ongoing. I took part in Occupy Central, and I have no regrets, in fact, I am proud to have participated in a movement that is now recorded in history. And now, these past months of #protests, I am so f***ing proud of being one in the millions of protesters (2millions, and of course, more recently, 1.7million people still marched on despite the downpour of rain) on our marches and assemblies, and I will continue to march, because it's our rights guaranteed under the Basic Law. You know how much you care, when you get up much earlier than usual, to show support for the leaders of #occupycentral #occupycentralwithloveandpeace, a.k.a #theumbrellamovement. Rather than going to the earliest screening of "Avengers: Endgame". Tanya Chan has been given an extension on bail till 10 June, for her brain tumour operation. 3 out of the 9 pro-democracy activists been handed prison sentences, with reductions for positive good character, to be served concurrently and immediately. 1 out of the 9 been sentenced to prison, but no reduction for supposed lack of positive good character. 1 has been given community service order of 200 hrs. 2 out of 9, with "stand-out positive good character", handed suspended sentences.
