her distrust in him in obvious. he's never exactly been nice to her, disinterested is more the term he'd use. she's pretty, but not in a trying-too-hard way that would stick out in his mind. he knows she's cassie's little sister, remembers hearing cassie talk about her when she'd mention plans for the week. he thinks she was rue's bestie at one point too, but he can't keep that shit straight all the time. that whole group changes friends like they change underwear. ❝ do you think you have a reason to be? ❞ he almost never gives a straight answer, answers a question with a question because it's slightly amusing to witness the discomfort in someone's eyes when they don't know what's going on or what his next move is. ❝ didn't big sister say you could trust me? ❞

"Because it's just my wrist," Aki said as he held up the offending limb. He'd wrecked on his skateboard, again, and sprained it pretty bad this time but hadn't said anything until his mother had forced him to go to the doctor. "I'll be fine, It's not like it won't heal," he shrugged.

“You never gonna be without me, even if we takin’ a break. How we supposed to make it work with you feelin’ like you in two places?” He asked, a frown on his face. She’d always have bigger dreams and places to go. He’d always be stuck right where the fuck he already was.

        “so what if i am?” there’s a soft shrug that falls off her shoulders before kat’s dark gaze returns to the other girl. “i’m just trying to help but if you don’t want the distraction i get it.” things had been so fucked up lately for everyone. honestly, she felt like they deserved a bit of a break from it all. 

Ethan knocked on the door of the Howard’s household. The play had bonded Lexi in a strange way that he couldn’t really put into words. Suze had taken him under her wing a bit and for a kid with a judgmental, largely absent mother, that made him feel pretty good. Now, they had dinner nearly every week as some weird, hybrid family. “Hey Lexi, how’s your week been?” He asked. 

“You really didn’t have to come and visit me up in here,” he hummed, avoiding Lexi’s eyes. She had been so damn dedicated through this whole ass mess. But all the bullshit with Ash and the arrest only made him realize as nice as it was to imagine havin’ a future, he’d lost it. To see her here now, made him ache for that lost future. Still, she kept callin’ and visitin’ even once they’d moved him back to jail to await trial. “Shit Lexi, I’m sorry. I just, I dunno if I want you to see me like this.”
