1. Songs

Lately I’ve been binge-listening to “We Share the Same Skies” by the Cribs!  Though if we’re talking about long-time obsessions, Muse’s Origin of Symmetry album was basically the soundtrack of my formative years.  XD

--We won’t talk about the other soundtracks of my formative years.

2. Movie

THE POKEMON MOVIE

I will watch any movie with tons of well-choreographed action sequences!  I love Tony Jaa’s movies (The Protector is one of my FAVORITES), and Ip-Man is another great one!  It also goes without saying that I also LOVE Jackie Chan’s movies (especially the Rush Hour movies).

Non-martial-arts movies that I liked a lot: Pacific Rim, Edge of Tomorrow, and Mad Max!  

Fun fact: my dad is routinely mistaken for being Jackie Chan!  I think it’s just because he’s an asian man, though--he doesn’t actually look too much like Jackie Chan (dad is 5′11″, for starters), and he also speaks perfect, un-accented english.  XD

3. TV Show

Archer and Brooklyn 99!  SO MANY GOOD ONE LINERS FROM BOTH.  I also LOVE House of Cards’ seasons 1 and 2, but haven’t had the time/inclination to finish season 3 yet!

4. Video games

There are 4 things that really shaped me into the person I am today--and they are Final Fantasy Tactics, Starcraft, Pokemon and Mass Effect.

Fun fact #2: 9-year-old me once told my older brother I wanted to change my name to “Fenix.”  To which he asked, “Oh, you mean like a Phoenix--the mythological bird?”  And my response was, “UH NO, FENIX WITH AN ‘F’ FOR THE GREATEST PROTOSS WARRIOR THAT EVER LIVED.”  

...little me was the BIGGEST nerd (I suppose adult me isn’t that much better, though I like to think I have better taste in clothes now).

I’ve always loved the Discworld series, especially any of the books featuring the Nightswatch!

1. Songs.

I have my COW playlist (currently obsessed with) on Spotify where i put the songs I listen to over and over. Last massive repeat song was Brandon Flower’s “Diggin Up the Heart”. In general music wise I’ve lately been obsessed with modern waltzes. You can blame the Postmodern Jukebox’s cover of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, which I’ve listened to COUNTLESS times now and began building a playlist (called Waltzing Matilda, and YES I know Waltizing Matilda is not a waltz, nor does it actually refer to waltzing...BUT the song “The Band Played Waltzing Matilda” IS a waltz and when the Pogues sing it they made a few bars of the original Matilda in waltz time just to mess with my heart because lordy that makes a hugely depressing song stab you even deeper...and this is why you don’t want to get me started on waltzes) Also I learnedthe other day that you can waltz on skates and now my coaches had better teach me how.

2. Movie

Currently I’m still head over heels about Mad Max, cause lordy that was fun. If it’s still playing at the dollar theater next week, I’m taking my dad for his bday. I was playing the soundtrack in the car and he was IN LOVE. More longterm obsessions are Adventures of Robin Hood - I’ve had that movie memorized since I was a kid, Lion in Winter - the DIALOGUE OMG, the Fall, Lord of the Rings was a huge obsession as a teenager, lordy.

3. TV Show

Doctor Who comes to mind, though I haven’t been in huge obsessive mode for a while, though I still enjoy it. West Wing is a pretty big obsession, and I’m writing a Leverage/Hawkeye crossover that WON’T END GODDAMMIT so we should probably put Leverage on here too lol.

4. Video Games

So I don’t play video games, they tend to give me motion sickness. But I am loving this game I play on my tablet called Auralux. Basically you have a home planet and are trying to colonize other planets while some other planets are trying to colonize them and you too. Ferocious, you should play it! You feel like the Raadchai. And it’s pretty and kinda soothing.

5. Books

Hawkeye, definitely. That set off quite the chain reaction and I can reread it over and over and find new things each time. The Dream Hunters by Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano - holy shit guys the art in this in incredible, I just open it sometimes to pet the pages. Wolfspeaker by Tamora Pierce - I can’t even tell you the number of times I’ve reread this book. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak because it stabs me in the heart and makes me cry each time and oh god now I’m thinking about Liesl and Rudi and Max and Hans and Death telling us that the sky was chocolate today and I need to go read it again...

1. songs Right now it’s Florence + the Machine's 'Which Witch'. Flo’s voice makes ideas grow in my soul. 

2. movie Jodhaa Akbar, a Bollywood epic historical drama that everyone should watch. It’s an experience, lemme tell you, and it’s going to leave you absolutely breathless. It’s got all my favourite things: political marriage of convenience, slowly (and reluctantly) falling in love (though he’s clearly smitten from the moment he sees her, expect to fawn over his amazement and the puppy eyes he gives her throughout most of the movie), S P A R R I N G, religious differences (and THE RESPECT HE SHOWS HER FAITH KILLS ME). Also gorgeous coreography and music and sinfully gorgeous actors I WILL WATCH THIS MOVIE IN HELL. 

3. tv show Leverage, a party to which I am woefully late, and I can’t?? believe?? it’s only got five short seasons?? what is this atrocity??? I’ve also got a big stupid crush on Eliot’s hair. And Eliot’s smile. And Eliot’s ridiculous cowboy belt buckles. Sigh. 

4. video games Bloodborne, otherwise known as LEATHER FASHION AND MONSTERS. Witness me screaming into the void as I lose all my carefully hoarded blood echoes for the hundredth time, but still proceed to start all over again. I die a lot, but at least my character is well dressed.  

I’m also planning another Dragon Age: Inquisition playthrough. Elf Inquisitor, this time around.  

5. books Erika Johansen’s Queen of the Tearling. Just give me books about ruling queens and I’m sold. Young queens, old quees, evil queens, I’ll take it all, I live and breathe for this stuff. 

I’m also about to start on Invasion of the Tearling, and fearing for the state of my poor heart. The Fetch has fetched my entire being, I’m so smitten.
