These are obi-dome, or technically, the only jewelry worn with a kimono, other than netsuke. Nowadays people are experimenting with earrings, necklaces and the like, but these came first. As you can see, they come in a lot of different materials and motifs, from jade to ceramic to carved wood to cloisonné. And in the bottom two pictures you'll see one of the handiest things to own if you wear kimono but can't afford several hundred dollars a pop every time you want a new obi-dome. I found the bunny pin on e-bay for five bucks, and put it in my converter, which is the silver thing on the back. The pin slides through the tube, fastens, and poof! Instant obi-dome. You can get the converters from KimonoPoncho's etsy shop for around six bucks. She has lots of stuff to make your kitsuke easier. Also, except for the bunny, all those obi-dome are currently for auction on e-bay, so if you see something you like, go get it!
It's obi-dome time.
Bought this cat (neko) obi-dome (obi buckle) because it comes the closest to looking like one of my favorite cats (my shaggy grey Chartreux) It's made of some kind of pottery and is 1995 yen (~$23) from Global Rakuten seller Sendaiya
Other cat obi from Sendaiya are here
