#progress ... #tbt ... so I meant to post this last Friday but life...it got in the way. Last Friday, my run. It was actually exactly that. A run. Or rather, it felt like I was flying? There was zero apprehension. Zero pushing myself to the finish, the finish it just showed up. Even #cathill .... pretty sure I was on the phone? I didn’t even realize I passed it (sorry @amymauskopf , still not sure why I told you I live in 2R) And as I got home I reflected on my journey ... My Friday runs, 2 years ago ... each week I’d increase my distance in the street by another couple of blocks. Couple. And I’d push myself to the new distance. Id Pick a street number and force myself there. Trying to reach 125. Then the next week 130. I’d stare at my reflection in the store windows I was passing always beyond impressed and encouraged by the ( what to me was a false) image. I looked like a real runner! (Too bad no one knew I wasn’t). I loved running in the streets of Harlem, mostly for all the encouragement I’d get ... id call it my Rocky run...a little kid trying to race me, an older woman shouting ‘you go girl’ as I ‘ran’ past her, and various other words of encouragement from the locals. It’s the only way I knew how to run, and the only place I could. Fast forward to today. I’m beyond shocked still each time I see my pace. Each time I see my distance. Each time I run in the park and see all the runners alongside me doing the same exact thing and I fit in! This life thing, it’s sure got some twists because there was no chance I ever saw this one coming. #lifehappens #iguessimarunnernow #iguessimarunner #stravarun #strava #nyrunner #nyruns #running #nycruns #nycrunner #nycrunning #runnersofinstagram #runningtakestime #journeys #fitfam #fitness #fitnessmotivation #runningmotivation #triathlontraining #fitnessjourney (at Manhattan, New York)
