I remember when I first started acting, I was always playing the “good guy” or the romantic interest. While those were good and fine, I always wanted to play a villain. I just wanted to switch it up. Unfortunately, I wasn’t getting any auditions for that type of role. I finally decided to write one for myself. I remember the audition for this show like it was yesterday. It was one of the first roles that I booked professionally. I went in only knowing the backstory of the character. There were no sides; it was straight up improv. I improvised a couple of different scenarios they threw at me. I remember feeling pretty good about it. Afterward, I went to the bar across the street to grab a bite to eat. It was about 30 minutes after the audition that I got the call saying I booked the part. I was overwhelmed with joy! Looking back on that, I have to say I was a little spoiled. That doesn’t normally happen. Usually, there are a few different steps before you book the job. It was a fun memory and something I will always cherish. I seriously can’t wait to get back out there again.
