Enjoy the classic goodness of Old Fashioned Sour Cream Doughnuts with a hint of nutmeg. These doughnuts are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/2 cup sour cream. 2 large eggs. 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Vegetable oil, for frying.
Instructions: Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl. Combine the sour cream, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl and mix thoroughly. Stirring constantly, combine the wet and dry ingredients to form a soft dough. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch on a surface dusted with flour. Using a glass and a smaller round cutter for the holes, cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter. In a large, deep pan, heat the vegetable oil to 350F 175C. Doughnuts should be carefully lowered into the heated oil and fried for two to three minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Using a slotted spoon, remove the doughnuts and drain on paper towels. Before serving, allow them to cool slightly. For extra sweetness, you can optionally glaze with a straightforward concoction of powdered sugar and milk.
