you’ve both been settled in Castle Town for a bit

moving out of Lookout Landing once construction took effect

Numien had been assigned to oversee the guard as well

at least until they find members who are capable of patrolling

it’s a bustling little town now

the market square lively and bright

and even at night, there’s a sense of joy that wafts through the cobblestone streets

but something’s still missing

you’re laying down for bed one night

the room dimmed from the one lit candle on your nightstand

and Numien pulls you in close

there’s a tension between you

but it’s not unpleasant to say the least

it’s far from that

and that expression he gives you

god, it’s so sweet

“y/n?”

“Hmm?”

“I’ve been… thinking…”

one of his hands gently caresses your side

his forehead pressed against yours

“Can we... umm... Can we try for a baby?”

this question takes you a bit off guard

you’d both discussed this in the past

but it wasn’t anything too serious then

you were just a young couple beginning your journey together

but hearing him now…

“It doesn't have to be this very moment. Just... someday. It's your decision, though, so don’t feel obligated to say yes just because it’s something I want.”

your heart races as he speaks

and that waver in his voice tells you he’s been thinking about this for a while

“But for the record… I think you’d make a wonderful [parent]. And I’d love to share that experience with you, if that’s something you’d want.”

you smile

“I'd like that.”

“Yeah?”

you can see the tears welling up in Numien’s eyes

“You’re sure? Because again, I—”

and you nod, cutting him off

“Yeah… I do.”

he takes a breath, exhaling slowly with a nervous grin
