Psychic Soviets are out of Glasgow, Scotland.  This has a definite sound of early 80s Fire Engines.  In a weird way, I can hear distant sounds of Sleaford Mods (without the accent).  Throw in some Mclusky, and you get a pretty good idea of the sound here.

Psychic Soviets – A Whore Lunch​/​Capitalist Night​-​Time Breakfast

I think the first time I became aware of Psychic Soviets was in May this year when they supported The Nightingales at Nice n Sleazy.  Like anybody with even a modicum of musical taste, I was blown away, whilst at the same time wondering what the hell I’d been doing for the previous year and a bit (that I know of) when they’d been playing gigs.  It is possible that I’d seen them at some point…

Breakfast Muff – The Feels

I know.  I’m late, I should have done this earlier.  But even I get busy now and again, so I hope you’ll forgive me.  It was seeing Breakfast Muff play last night in Glasgow that reminded me I should get my finger out and post a review of this before they release something else.  Last night. they were, as always, brilliant, and this Number4Door release is the first of what will hopefully be loads…

Since the early days of Radio Static we’ve covered Amanda X’s steadily upward momentum not only in the local Philly scene, but also on their national success as well. We’ve done reviews on both of their tapes, Ruin the Moment and Amnesia both out on cassette via Number4Door Records (Ruin The Moment is sold out, but there are 8 COPIES OF AMNIESIA LEFT!!) as well as a show review from last year’s Creepoid farewell show. All of which were awesome reviews to write because Amanda X is so good that it was virtually effortless to come up with awesome things to say about them.

In this video they perform their indie punk single “Nothing Wild.” This stripped down version it’s a bit faster than the recorded version, yet I think it makes the song that much better! It’s amazing that just speeding up the song a few bmps would make it sound  so much different. The vocal harmonies are my favorite part out of this whole song, especially when the music cuts out and then comes back in with more power. The camera fisheye lens was a niece touch as well with the headstocks of the guitars almost jumping out at you in certain instances of the video.
