NoBoPro anybody?
Iām thinking ahead to November, because thereās already a ton of NaNoWriMo prep stuff on my dash here and other social media. And honestly Iām trying not to feel down or like a failure because I know thereās no way I can participate, no matter how much Iād like to. I donāt know about yāall, but I donāt have the time or the energy (mental or otherwise) to write nearly 1700 words per day. I work full-time (often with overtime) and I struggle with depression, both of which sap my creative energy. Itās just not going to happen.
What I do have, though, is a truly absurd number of notebooks. Thereās a lot of thick journals in there, but most of them are the slim insert types used in midori-style travelerās notebooks. Iām terrible about writing regularly and I hoard stationary like a true dragon, so they tend to accumulate faster than I use them up, but I think Iāve found a solution.
See, while bopping about the stationary/pen/writing corners of the Internet I came across this post about the Notebook Project, or NoBoPro, which started as an alternative to NaNoWriMo. The idea is simple: fill up a notebook by the end of the month. Any size, any number of pages, any topic, poetry, prose, doesnāt matter.
Most of my insert-type notebooks are 60 pages or fewer. Thatās two A5 pages (one page front-and-back) per day. Thatās a lot more feasible than 50,000 words. So I think I might do this instead of NaNoWriMo, both to try to get back in the habit of writing regularly and to set a more attainable goal for myself.
So Iām wondering, does this sound like something anyone else would be interested in? I mean, Iām probably going to do it regardless. Iām just wondering if anybody else would like an alternative to NaNoWriMo, and if this particular idea piques anybodyās interest. I canāt promise Iād be able to come up with a list of prompts or anything, but if other people are interested maybe we could all use a common tag and kind of cheer each other on.
