Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 Impressions!
Having a job now unfortunately means that reaction videos are a little harder to do now, but as an alternative, I can always quickly relay my thoughts via a Tumblr post... except this isnāt exactly quickly. I admittedly needed some time to collect my thoughts after the showcase and even now, I still havenāt fully come to a conclusion on this Xbox event.
To start off with, I do love the idea of focusing on just games releasing within late 2022 and early 2023. Too many games have been announced too early and itās nice to know what games I can look forward too in the near future. Iām sure this format will prove fantastic the following year but unfortunately it suffers as a result of how early games had been announced in previous years. For instance, it has been ages since Avowed was announced so I naturally expected it for a late 2022 or early 2023 release and thus to see it here... it wasnāt. Thereās been a lot of games announced that Iāve been keen to learn more about and I certainly didnāt here.
Not many of the games announced also grabbed my interest, though that isnāt to say there wasnāt plenty of games shown off and of quite a variety. My two highlights was Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (or as I was calling it, the magical triangle game with the cute pet) and Ravenlok. I look forward to learning about both of these games. Otherwise... Iām somewhat curious about A Plagueās Tale: Requiem now and I did see both Party Animals and Slime Rancher 2 on a big slide of theirs but no trailer was shown for either game. I appreciate Forza Horizonās continued tradition of wacky dlc, the new Minecraft game added some family friendly appeal to the showcase (and I appreciate that, despite not being a Minecraft fan) and I feel I know people who would enjoy Lightyear Frontier.
If grading... perhaps a C, but only a D if on a personal level. A lot was shown and the focus was great but very little for me. Iām very surprised that Bright Memory Infiniteās console announcement wasnāt featured here, given how Microsoft was pushing it before. In any case, please tell me what you thought of the Xbox & Bethesda Game Showcase 2022?
