Page 03. ---- Albert Brass Was Sleeping on Road; Seriously Injured But May Survive ---- Special to the Star-Phoenix KAMSACK, June 3. - Albert Brass, 42-year-old Indian from Keys Reserve in the Norquay district, lies in King Edward Hospital here with a fair chance for life after being run over by a car driven by R. K. Dawson, C. N. R. agent at Pelly, who was returning to Pelly from Norquay, early Sunday morning. Brass was lying in the middle of the road when the car came up over a small knoll on the highway, about half a mile south of Norquay and his body could not be seen by the driver of other occupants of the car till it was too late. No blame has been attached to Dawson who enjoys a reputation for slow and careful driving.
Brass apparently fell asleep on the road as has happened in several cases in the past. He was brought to Kamsack before four a.m. and attended by Dr. J. I. Wallace. He is suffering from a fracture at the base of the skull, fracture of the arm, clavicle, scapula and hip. [AL: Read between the lines and you see the violence of settler colonialism at work.]
