When did Daquavis had to leave his family ? How much more aware is he than Dream about avian culture ?
Daq was taken from his family in his later teens, shortly after his adult plumage came in. The moment he was spotted by humans travelling close to his flock rumours started spreading and it didnāt take long for hunters to come looking. He was caught, taken away, and sold to a rich and renowned collector who kept him on display. After months in captivity he managed to escape, shortly thereafter being taken in by another flock who found him. Tragically this led to him discovering the anklet heād been tagged with tracks his locations and the avians were soon found. He managed to escape being recaptured but many of the other avians were caught or injured, leading him to avoid others in the future.
Due to this, and another couple of reasons, Daquavis and Dreamās knowledge of avian culture are vastly different. First off theyāre from two different regions, so their culture and even their avian accents are different. Dream also left his own flock a lot earlier than Daq, missing out on social developments, but heās heavily researched various avian cultures in his search for knowledge.
So Dream is actually a lot more knowledgeable about different avian cultures, he knows a lot more about their beliefs and traditions than Daq does. Daq on the other hand has been around other avians for most of his life, and a lot longer than Dream. Heās more fluent in how avians socialise and naturally behave, to a point where Dream comes across as very stilted and even odd to others of their kind.
