Tell me about Solstice?

a half-finished fic that has lingered in my drafts for years now. ladybug and chat noir have to travel to an archaeological site at the solstice and stay up all night together for Reasons

“So, to use your Lucky Charm this close to the solstice, you end up drawing on your innate creative energy,” Tikki continued. “Unfortunately, that means you have less creativity left for other pursuits.”

Marinette felt a sharp twinge of resentment. “You’re saying I can’t design because I’m Ladybug? Why didn’t this happen last year?” 

“Only temporarily!” Tikki was quick to reassure. “Your powers will slowly return as the days get longer. You didn’t notice last year because you’d finished your gifts early, but you didn’t do much designing then either.”

“So I’m just… stuck, unable to design, for weeks?” Marinette’s words tried to catch in the tightness of her throat. “Tikki, I don’t have weeks.”

“Well,” Tikki rubbed her arms together nervously. “There is a solution, but I’m not sure —”

Adrien realized that the best way to get Marinette's attention was through arguments. He knew it was a desperate ploy for her attention; he might as well have been pulling her pigtails on the playground. But he just couldn’t help himself; she was intoxicating, her little chin tilted up in a challenge, her eyes lit with a fire and determination as they gazed right back into his, the bright blue closer than ever before. It was like a game, and he was always winning.

This would have to be set season 1/season 2, Adrien and Marinette not really being friends yet. Really leans into the ‘as soon as Adrien sees Marinette be Marinette he falls head over heels’. Basically as soon as she’s able to talk to him she’s golden!

But there is a strange melancholy that surrounds Marinette now, a sadness he cannot seem to get rid of, no matter how hard he tries. When he does, she simply smiles at him and tells him not to worry, curls her body around him and hugs him tightly, as if afraid to let him go.
