“Ich bin froh” standing on its own sounds a little strange to me. Usually you add the reason for being happy when you use “froh”: 

“Ich bin froh, dich zu sehen.” = “I’m glad to see you.” 

“Ich bin froh, dass es dir gefällt.” = “I’m glad that you like it.” 

You let yourself explore these new feelings and experiment with these new desires. You didn’t jump the gun - you picked a label based on your best understanding of how you felt at that time a year ago. “Misidentifying” is actually an incredibly common experience for a multitude of reasons. It doesn’t make you any less valid. It just means your journey regarding this isn’t quite over yet. 

If you need to just privately explore for a while or open up to a trusted friend, that’s fine! You’re not obligated to tell everyone any time you’re questioning, especially if they’ve already shown they will not support or respect you. 100%, you can if you want, but just remember that this is your story and you get to define it.

Just like you worked through this last time, though, you explore these feelings and experiment with the different label and titles. Good luck!

Since you just have basic earrings, you could just close up your piercing holes than go to a piercer and ask them to pierced them again with the intention of stretching them.

Because if you don’t get them repierced and you start stretching them now, if they’re too low, once you get to the larger sizes your earlobe could start thinning out. Sometimes there are ways to correct this such as scalpelling, but if you wish to avoid this kind of scenario its better to get it repierced to start with the best placement possible.

It is also possible to get them repierced at a larger gauge. I’ve seen people get initial ear piercings at 4g, 2g, 0g, etc. Its a good idea if you want to save a lot of time. But that’s up to you.
