what we could have been

I wonder at times what we would be if it hadn't ended like it did. my friends talk about you - unintentionally letting me know that you have been okay. I am glad you're well, but it's aggravating how much I still think about you.

Are you working two jobs now? I heard you got a new job, I thought you quit the first one, but I saw something that could indicate otherwise. Take care of yourself, it could be quite hard to balance many responsibilities at once. And taking it from me, it is very tiring on both the mind and body. That was kind of how we slowly started to grow apart.

I also heard one of our friends finally met someone, I bet you have too. A little part of me wants to hope you haven't, but what am I saying? you are a great and kind person, they would be lucky to talk to you.

I genuinely wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Maybe some day we actually do cross paths like we talked about the first time, if not, I hope we can at least support each other quietly from a far.

Maybe one day, if when we both look up at the sky, you wonder what we could have been too.

a/n: hello hello~ this was actually written in my drafts a couple weeks ago, but in honour of NIKI’s album “Buzz” coming out today, I decided to post it because of Paths hitting way too close to home…. LIKE TELL ME WHY SHE BASICALLY WROTE IT FOR ME- (sorry, my bad)

One Day, both the novel and Netflix adaptation, impacted my 2024. For the first time in five years, I felt truly seen in a piece of media, and I wasn't entirely sure whether to be happy or afraid. It challenged me with questions and I'm proud to call it one of my favorite pieces of media!

Everyone loves a slow-burn romance until they live it, and I believe that if the story ends with us, we will see each other again. But, until then, I hope my person takes care and experiences a life worth telling stories about because I will be doing the same.
