Apparently last year, the TalkTV presenters spread misinformation / disinformation about and hate towards the transgender community, on 11 programmes. They specifically targeted trans women, with Alex Phillips claiming supporters of trans rights are 'allowing a man with a grit beard to put on a frock and go into the brownie tent,' as well as saying trans women are 'hulking great perverts going into children's toilets.'

Ofcom refused to open an investigation into 10 of the 11 programmes. So, the Good Law Project is now taking them to court, to stop transphobic violence.

They require donations, and have opened a donating site to do so, for this. Their barristers' costs are estimated to exceed £50,000. If they lose the case, they will maybe have to pay Ofcom and TalkTV's legal fees, likely exceeding £100,000. There's more information on their donating page.

I can't donate due to my faux pa controlling my bank account. I have been following Good Law Project, as well as QueerAF and NION, for a while now. They are doing an amazing job at publishing what is going on, with recently about the new guidance that makes it near to impossible for schools to be supportive of trans+ children's social transition, in the UK.

Here's a Tumblr article. Tumblr has its own particular tonal register, more personal, conversational, voice-led than the LinkedIn or partner-site pieces, and the audience tends to be younger, more progressive, and more receptive to candid first-person-feeling writing than to corporate promo. The piece is shaped accordingly: warmer, more reflective, less obviously promotional, and more comfortable with talking honestly about trans dating in a way that suits Tumblr's actual culture.

I've pitched it at around 450 words, which is right for Tumblr, substantial enough to feel like a real post, short enough that people will actually read it.

Trans Dating in the UK in 2026: Where We Actually Are

Something has shifted in UK trans dating over the past few years, and I don't think it's been written about enough.

Five years ago, dating as a trans woman in Britain meant either putting up with the mainstream apps (which generally weren't built for you) or hoping to meet someone organically through whatever scene you had access to. Admirers, the men who genuinely wanted to meet trans women, often had no idea where to find them, and the trans women they might have matched with were often invisible behind algorithms that filtered them out by default.

In 2026 that's changed, slowly but meaningfully. Dedicated trans dating platforms exist now in a way they really didn't in 2020. Trans Pride events across the UK have grown significantly, with Brighton, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Sheffield and others hosting genuine annual gatherings rather than tagged-on side events. The cultural conversation about trans dating has shifted from being treated as taboo to being treated as ordinary, which is what most trans women have wanted all along.

That doesn't mean it's easy. UK trans dating still involves managing the same friction it always has, the curious-but-not-committed admirers, the men who'll date you privately but not publicly, the exhausting work of being someone's first trans partner. Those patterns haven't gone away. But the infrastructure to date well has improved enormously, and the trans women dating in 2026 have access to community, resources, and platforms that previous generations didn't.

The other shift worth naming: admirers have got better. Not all of them, obviously, but the proportion of men who arrive at trans dating having genuinely thought about it, having done their own work on attraction and respect, has grown noticeably. The men still figuring themselves out at the woman's expense are still around, but they're a smaller share of the dating pool than they used to be. That's progress.
