I've seen so many strange takes about The Night Manager finale and I have to wonder...Do people know that sometimes a show makes you angry, sad, dissatisfied, frustrated on purpose?
Because this isn't Stranger Things finale. This is a finale of second season out of 3 that would have always ended this way. It's literally the mid low point. Teddy wasn't kiled because they wanted to queerbait or "kill your gays", his death could not have been forshadowed harder. Pine fell in love with him and he lost him, because he was always going to. The writers didn't just do it for shock value. His death made sense in every way. It made sense for who he was and who Roper was. Teddy was never going to be "Jed". He was always going to be "Sophie". Would I have loved if he survived and killed Roper? Yeah obviously. But that wasn't going to happen. This show is a spy thriller/one man's tragedy. If you are mad that Teddy didn't kill his dad, if you are sad that he and Pine never got their happy ever after, if you want Roper's head on a pike...YEAH THAT'S HOW JONATHAN FEELS!! THAT IS THE POINT!
Can we stop acting like when media makes us feel negative feelings it's immediately deemed "badly written."
Not liking it (and I don't like parts of it myself, I don't think it's perfect) doesn't equal low quality.
