iβm honestly really compelled by the changes they made to the circumstances around nickiβs death. i did really want to see armand cut his hands off LOL but the way they did it makes a lot of sense to me. it makes lestat more directly complicit in nickiβs death, and so his guilt feels even more earned than it does in the book. it also makes it very clear that killing nicki was a fucked up act of mercy on armandβs part. lestat sees it that way even in the book, heβs almost relieved for nicki when he finds out, but the fact that he wasnβt actually present for it leaves a lot of room for alternative interpretation imo. the showβs version is a lot more cut and dry which is basically the last thing i expected but i appreciate it given how eager everyone is to assume anything armand does is nefarious.
