Hiii! I love your youtube series on cat genetics and have been teaching my friends cat genetics from what i’ve learned from you, however my friend and i can’t seem to agree on if her cat has brown or black base. It really depends on the lighting, so I was wondering what your insights is to this? How can you tell dark brown and black apart on cats?

Well a "brown" base would be chocolate, and while choc can get very, very dark, I'm pretty confident in saying that's a black cat :3

It can indeed be hard with the lighting. My advice is to check nose/leathers. It can be hard to explain, but when you've seen enough black vs chocolate cats, the nose of a chocolate kinda...shines differently.
