Basically to me Swan Queen was about a classic love-story, with a twist. The Savior and the person that needed saving the most; The Evil Queen. That they were both women just added a little difference for it to me.Â
But the way I saw it, it couldâve been something that was groundbreaking. When in season 5 or so they wouldâve slowly entered into something of a relationship, with all the baggage that came with it to sort out. All the while they are two strong women raising âtheirâ son together. Strong women who donât really need a man in their lives. Especially because itâs been shown they havenât needed one in the past and got by just fine.
That to me is Swan Queen. That to me got me out of a writers-funk (I hadnât written anything in years prior to this) it got me so interested in this pairing that I decided to try my hand at writing fanfic again. It actually made me fell in love with the pairing so much I wrote the longest story since I started to write well over a decade ago.
To me, the pairing couldâve been something for all the people still coming to terms with their feelings too. If the writers decided to push the envelope, it couldâve been the show that wouldâve been groundbreaking and talked about in years to come. If these women were shown to be able to overcome their differences and slowly grow to love each other and explore their love, then it couldâve shown a lot of the audience that are still sorting out their feelings; that itâs okay to feel that way, that itâs okay to embrace that side of their sexuality, that you can have an happy ending as a lesbian or bi-sexual too.
