Hello beautiful one, I am glad to have finally received you. Kinda sad Shy isn’t still around to see.

The Detective had an interesting and complex thread of growth, change, and self-acceptance woven through all the stories on their blog, but some traits always remained. They acted as a mother, a nurturing force to most of those around them...to various results. They are one of the very few of their ‘kind’ to ever grasp magic, and is technically an homonculous-in that they were resurrected through alchemical means (Lazarus Pit).

A lot of these fellows are technically dead!

Design-wise, Detective never lost that strain of vanity, indeed, it was a very clear and visible character trait! To that end, I typically envisioned them preferring the clothing styles that were popular during the Jazz Age. The timeless elegance of Art Deco suits both themself and their surroundings. Being based off the BTAS Riddler just reinforces that, since BTAS Gotham visually hails back to Deco visuals.

While both Detective and Bird were at least visually based off BTAS Riddler, and both have the distinctive hair swoopy thing up front, I’ve rendered it in two different ways. Bird just has a cowlick in front that makes the hair stick up, but Detective does it on purpose. They wouldn’t accept anything else.
