This is from a study just published a few days ago by Lepeco et al. (2025).

Hell ants (subfamily: Haidomyrmecinae) are super cool ants that possessed vertically closing jaws.

Vulcanidris cratensis is a new species discovered in Brazil. It dates back to the lower Cretaceous, and at the time of writing, is now the oldest known ant to science!

A new specimen of the Middle Triassic Ichthyosaur, Besanosaurus, has been described with an in-utero fetus revealed through X-ray imaging. The fetus is oriented tail-first, something seen more often in advanced icthyosaurs!

Dutch farmers’ organisation LTO has called for a rapid assessment of new international research that links the use of glyphosate weedkiller to cancer in rats. The study, carried out by European and US scientists, exposed 1,000 rats to varying doses of glyphosate over several years. Researchers found that some of the animals developed leukaemia or other forms of cancer, while no cases were recorded in a control group. The results have been described as “groundbreaking and alarming” by Dutch scientists not involved in the study. -If the findings are confirmed, the LTO said the product’s approval “must be withdrawn immediately”, Trouw quoted the organisation as saying. Glyphosate is widely used by Dutch farmers in both the food and flower industry. The LTO said it was essential that national and European safety bodies, including the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Dutch board for the authorisation of plant protection products and biocides (CTGB), evaluate the study “as a top priority”.

The WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) told us in 2015 it was a probable carcinogen. Farmers shouldn't be surprised.

Hello! My name is Max I am now collecting data for a new study looking at eye gaze cue perception in people with autism. As of today, April 25th 2021, anyone who is 18 years old or older can participate in this study. If you are not a legal adult (18+), your data cannot be used. This study will be open through May and into June, 2021. 

I am recruiting people with and without autism. If you choose to participate, you will be asked if you have autism as well as complete the AQ10 (a 10-item autism assessment). You are more than welcome to DM me, @my-autistic-things or email me, [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

This experiment is intended to be completed on a computer (laptop or desktop), as you need to respond with your keyboard. All data recordings will be completely anonymous and your IP address (or other computer-related identifying information) will not be collected.
