Been thinking a lot about the Alabasta arc of One Piece, just reread the second half of it on a whim today and it really had me appreciating it more like it's remained in my top 2 since I saw it and I'm currently at the last stretch of whole cake

One thing about Alabasta and specifically Sir Crocodile. In the mostly goofy world of One Piece there still exists evils, who are using the power of their wacky cartoon world to cause as much suffering as possible. Not only did he have a giant evil cannon to blow up the city, he also made it a time bomb as contingency in case any good guys try to stop him dramatically at the last second.
I just found out that my brother who introduced me to One Piece didn't even start watching from the beginning????? He started at Alabasta wtfffff? That's like 100 episodes of the story he didn't see. I actually feel so disturbed by this lol.
