its still a shame about all the cheesy lore stuffed into new doom 2, theres no excuse for that, but after some research, ive come to respect 2 a lot more and i am now happy it exists.
devs balanced game around the hardest difficulty, making this one of the few games to NOT make higher "difficulty" by slapping more health onto enemies and/or spawning more of them
according to fans of new doom 2, "wtf why was this added" and being annoyed by the amount of tutorials and learning curve is universal. they believe the intended gameplay is "your first playthru is practice for the real playthru". they all say that the game is extremely fun but only once you become good enough for higher difficulties and they find the progression extremely rewarding. that once you reach peak gameplay, you feel like a god. this makes new doom 2 not just a narrative sequel but a gameplay sequel for hardcore fans who have played new doom 1 so much that theyre bored.
