S being close to the SNP is nothing new under the sun, really, and it goes together with his strong and open support of Scotland's independence pledge.
Hers is a bittersweet note, because it's very difficult to believe there are no cast invitations left for a last minute guest of her status. Plus her presence at the Stratford Literary Festival, where she is likely to promote Frankly, her new memoir, does not overlap with the show:

The likely reason Mrs. Sturgeon was not invited to a Macbeth show has to do with her rather controversial post-premiership status. More precisely, with her arrest (June 2023) related to Operation Branchform, a police investigation of an embezzlement/fraud scheme that involved Sturgeon's own husband, Peter Murrell. Even if all charges against her have been cleared (March 2025), one is never too savvy, nor careful, at least in the open. Other than that, there seem to be no hard feelings, just a fleeting wistfulness of sorts. It would be interesting to see if S shows up at her event, tomorrow morning, since he reposted her comment, after all.
