The album marks the first appearance of bassist Ben Kenney, following the departure of founding member Dirk Lance. The singles from the album are "Megalomaniac" and "Talk Shows on Mute". "Agoraphobia" was released as a promo single. Early pressings of the album list track 12 "Smile Lines" as "Suite Lines" on the back cover. The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 332,000 copies in its first week on the chart. BACK IN STOCK /// Fu Manchu - „The Action Is Go“ • „The Action is Go“ ist das vierte Studioalbum der vier Über-Stoner Fu Manchu, welches zum 30. Jährigen Band-Jubiläum neu aufgelegt wurde. Nachdem Eddie Glass und Ruben Romano die Band verlassen haben, um Nebula zu gründen und Brant Bjork (Kyuss) am Schlagzeug und Bob Balch an der Gitarre nachrückten, entstand das Album 1997 in den legendären Sound City Studios von LA. Es wurde von Jay Noel Yuenger (White Zombie) produziert, der auch Parts dazu beisteuerte. Dieser Klassiker des Stoner-Rocks gehört heute zu den Säulen der Szene und ist meiner Meinung nach ein Muss für jede gute Plattensammlung. #nerdattack Das Cover zeigt den legendären Tony Alva im Dogbowl. Das Foto wurde vom Dogtown Szene-Fotografen Glen Friedman geschossen. Eines seiner coolsten Shoots, wie ich finde. Meine Vinyl: Limitierte Auflage von 2.000 Stück in grün und blau (45 U/min). REVIEW /// The Bloody Mallard - "Realm" • Wenn man eine Platte auflegt und die Frau nach ein paar Minuten fragt: "Hey, was ist denn das? Die klingen echt cool", ist das immer ein gutes Zeichen. So war es bei mir letzte Woche, als ich das Debüt Album "Realm" der Londoner Heavy Psych Instrumentalisten "The Bloody Mallard" auflegte. Die Scheibe hatte ich am Wochenende zuvor, nach einer lässigen "Spinning The Goodstuff" Session spontan gekauft (Danke Martin für den Tipp). Schon der Opener "Haemoglobin" zaubert dem Zuhörer ein warmes Gefühl in die Magengrube, um dann nach ein paar Sekunden den Stoner-Truck durch Bude krachen zu lassen. Mal happy, mal bombastisch, dann wieder ganz sanft... das Wechselbad der musikalischen Gefühle beherrscht "The Bloody Mallard" par Excellence. Und obwohl "Realm" das erste Album des Trios ist, wirkt die Band schon so abgeklärt, als ob sie seit 20 Jahre nichts Anderes machen würde. Highlight der Platte sind die Songs "Ceremonious Synapses i und ii". Dort wird zwischen Rock, Psych, Stoner und Prog so oft hin und her geschaltet, dass man nach dem 10ten Mal immer noch nicht jeden Teil begriffen hat. #nerdattack Das grandiose Cover Artwork ist stammt aus der Feder (Schere) des Grafik-Designers @bedelgeuse Fazit: "Realm" ist ein tolles und facettenreiches Instrumental Album, was durch sein tolles Songwriting und dem kleinen Hang zum Bombast-Rock, für mich zu einer der abwechslungsreichsten Platten des Genres im Jahr 2020 gehört.
