NEON DAYS IN NEOMUNA
unveiled
On the topic of Neomuni history, there is a lot of the city's history that can be gleaned. I loved how they developed the history. Here is the timeline:
***
Founding of Neomuna: Exodus Indigo arrive on Neptune and settle it; eventually founding the city of Neomuna.
Pre-Sidereal Augmentation: Before Cloud Striders, citizens augmented themselves for defense.
Creation of the Sidereal: Strider creates the Sidereal, allowing the creation of the Cloud Striders.
Astronomy Progress: Stargazer developes the city's astronimcal capibilites.
Expedition to Earth: Stargazer travels to Earth to make contact and/or hide Neomuna.
CloudArk Early Development: In the early days, the CloudArk was mostly used as a storage system.
CloudArk Simulation Development: Bluejay further develops the CloudArk to create simulations.
CloudArk Vidgame Development: Building off Bluejay's work, the CloudArk begins to be used to create vidgames.
Discovery of CloudArk-VexNet Interactions: Bluejay discovers that the CloudArk borders the Vex Network.
Shutdown of the Vex Isometry: Bluejay infiltrates the VexNet to destroy the Vex Isometry.
Bluejay's Sentencing: Despite saving Neomuna, Bluejay was sentance to public service into simulation research in the CloudArk.
Twenty Year Siege: A 22-year siege placed by the Vex that was broken by Siegebreaker.
The Cerulean Blitz: A battle between (presumably) the Vex and Neomuna.
The Cobalt Occupation: An unknown conflict stopped by Maelstrom.
Founding of the Assur Academy: Maelstrom founds the Assur Academy for citizen and Cloud Strider training.
Uplift Coven Uprising: A group of potential protégées attempt to become Cloud Striders.
Public Referendum Passes: In response to the potential return of the Black Fleet, a public vote is passed to hibernate all Neomuna, a population of 5 million.
CloudArk Quarantine: The citizenry travel on monorails into underground bunkers. Their body hibernates while their minds stay active in the CloudArk.
Holdout Cults Resistance: Several groups of the citizens refuse to go under, instead holding out on the surface.
Shadow Legion Invasion: Calus and his Shadow Legion invade Neptune.
That's a really good summary of all we know so far!
Hoping for more in the future. Neomuna and Cloud Striders and everything related to that deserve more content. All of the stuff regarding the Veil and the CloudArk and how it intersects the Vex Network are topics that I wanted updates on for so long now.
We take a break from action for some quality enby time 🩶🏳️⚧️🩶

Got a tiny little head-canon going on with all the recent Star Wars stuff showing up in destiny, a sort of Whatsonian explanation for it all
Ever since we made contact with Neomuna, the last city has been getting an influx of “classic” human entertainment. So stuff like books, games, and of course film and television.
Star Wars has naturally been a huge hit, the parallels with a massively outnumbered Rebellion up against overwhelming odds resonates with the citizens and guardians alike.
As a result the reason we have weapons, armour, sparrows and jump ships based on the visual elements of Star Wars, is because the foundry designers in setting are going full tumblr fandom mad for it on the VanNet.
The other part of my head-canon is that the reason why doesn’t quite 100% match up with how they appear in the movies we know, is that Neomuna does not have the Original Trilogy, or it’s Prequels and Sequels.
My thinking is that the Exodus colony ships could not contain the entirety of all human art and culture, and a lot of thought and discussion went into what would be included.
As a result when the Exodus Indigo left Earth it only had the Centenary reboot series in their cultural database. A version of the trilogies where X-Wings have five engines, Darth Vader has huge shoulders, and speeder bikes have weird pannier racks.
Quinn Laghari is honestly one of my favourite characters in Destiny. She's not some guardian legend, she's not a super-soldier or a paracausal entity of any sort. She's a fucking librarian. She has one of the most normal, grounded jobs in a science fiction setting. Because even far into the future, records still need caretakers. She has multiple PhDs. She gives sarcastic tours of her own archive. She flirts with you, regardless of your species or gender. She canonically has a prosthetic leg, although currently only manifests as a hologram. She's absolutely vicious, she comes up with absolutely brutal methods of fighting off the Cabal invasion. She is the character ever. Quinn Laghari, I love you so much
Why is it that my first thought was that this is Osiris and Nimbus?
