you're reading the back of a green juice when someone bumps into you at the grocery store.

'ah, shit. my bad,' he says.

you're laughing it off, spinning around to tell them it's ok when you meet the most familiar yet strange green eyes you've ever seen.

his eyes widen, his mouth opens, he's turning bashful.

'eric,' you breathe. 'oh my gosh.' you kept every letter he ever wrote you. every photo you two have taken. sometimes you read the old emails and text messages, unable to stop comparing every guy you meet to him. it's just that no one has ever been able to make you feel warm and whole like he did. even after all these years, your mind goes back to him, wondering if he's the one who got away.

'i can't believe you're here,' he breathes.

in your eyes, he can see it all - the shy kisses, the movie theater dates, the way he dreams of you sometimes. it ruins his chances at ever finding love because all he aches for is you.

and now here you are.

'how've you been?' you ask, your cheeks heating.

'good..i guess,' he offers nervously, shrugging. 'how about you?'

he can't tear his gaze off you. he feels like he's dreaming. 'good,' you tell him, finding it hard to speak when your body is racing with every emotion imaginable. he's so grown. he's so...hot.

'i still have the letters you wrote me,' he confesses. 'i was actually reading them the other day.' his eyes graze the floor.

you blush more, covering your face a little. 'oh gosh...'

he's smiling. 'i love them...i cherish them...'

you're looking at him. 'i have everything you've ever given me in a box underneath my bed,' you confess.

he cocks his head softly, looking at you. 'that's so sweet.'

you swallow, your heart something of daydreams and desire. 'maybe we can grab coffee and catch up?..' oh gods. your heart has stopped. please say yes, please say yes, please say-

he's nodding. 'how about you come to a party with me tonight? like old times.'

you're nodding, smiling. 'i'd love to.'
