Idk it feels like they'd intended echoes to be the end of their arc but did it really badly so nobody fucking knew. And now they just aren't getting any new content. Forever. Fml

The idea of them forever being in domestic bliss, never doing anything that could be considered "dangerous" or even go on their trip to explore the stars is lowkey pissing me off. Like they are forever just going to be the "cute gay couple" and that's about it.

I AM very glad that they didn't forget about Mara and Sjur. That made me p happy.

In a way, also, I do think that sometimes it's valuable to have characters who have gone through immense amounts of danger, trauma, pain, grief and suffering to have an ending that has them settle. It depends on the context of it all, of course, but if there are any two characters who I want to see safe and never being in danger ever again, it's Osiris and Saint. Given everything they've been through, I truly think that very few characters have ever earned their peace as much as they did.

Like, true proper peace and retirement and time to spend with each other without worrying about either of them being in danger or dying before their time. They've been through that. I know everyone is apprehensive of the narrative of settling down because we all have understandable distaste for stories doing that to characters when it doesn't fit them, but I do truly believe it fits Osiris and Saint, purely because of the context of what they've experienced so far. The sheer level of pain and suffering they've both been through over the years is truly at scale that I can't hardly comprehend. Saint was literally dead. What Osiris went through with Savathun is still one of those things in the game that I will truly never get over and the reason why there will never be a single moment of consideration for any mercy towards Savathun. Nothing can truly compare to the level of insurmountable grief and torment these two men were put through.

I think them getting time off, safety and comfort is not only more than deserved, but necessary. I would genuinely see many other solutions as needless cruelty towards the characters. And I still do believe that nothing really implies that they will never do anything ever again, and that they'll just sit at home being a cute couple. It's just a moment of peace in their life catalogued in the lore tab to let us know that they're doing okay.

It reminds me of this:

He sees himself in a million permutations. Each path: a life in glimpses. He takes what he can from them. Not enough to savor, but enough to be immortalized in nostalgic haze. In one, he is a blazing warrior, driving back the horrors of the longest nights. Another, a vigiled gargoyle atop the Infinite Forest. A grizzled elder overseeing keen disciples. In so many, he is dead. But there is one where Osiris finds happiness. He finds a time away from strife. He finds Saint—a dream of warm serenity. The peace to his purpose. With Saint, there is a future that could have been enough. So many unlived moments lost between calls to action.

When Osiris thought he'd die, he watched himself being so many things, all of them showing him as a man of action, a protector, a warrior, a teacher. And the one he lingers on is the one of peace with Saint. Everything else pales in comparison. What could've been enough was just Saint. The thing he recites in the new lore tab reflects this realisation perfectly. Osiris spent his whole presumed infinite life chasing a higher purpose, and ignoring the small moments he could've had with a man he loves. He's earned to experience those small moments now.

And I also really enjoy that Osiris is writing memoirs. What a story he has to tell. Imagine all of his experiences and knowledge and everything he went through, from his point of view. A book I would love to read.

and then Lodi comes in and he wants to know their name. they... don't remember or know it. he asks what their favourite food is. what do they do in spare time? blank and blank.

so he tries to help them figure it out. doesn't call them Weapon, ever. coaxes a person out of them into daylight.
