Portrait of Iris Cleft (1961) by Robert Rauschenberg Robert Rauschenberg was invited to take part in an exhibit celebrating Iris Cleft in which 41 artist would create portraits of her. Rauschenberg, who was in Sweden for the installation of another exhibit, apparently forgot to make the portrait as promised. At the last minute he sent the above telegram for inclusion in the show.

Mixed-media collages on a special surface (a mix of fabric and paper named ozalit, a vintage chemical method from the ‘60 Th to imprint something, an original blueprint of the plans of my town in this case). In Romanian, Dada is a double affirmation, something like yesyes, very often repeated by the Romanians in their discussions. So, I’ve created a series of three collages with an S (yes) on them, a triple affirmation! Acrylic paints, metallic contour, various fragments of illustrations...
